Altered Art

One of my new 'things' is making altered art jewelry so I thought that I would
share some of these ideas and supplies with you. What is altered art? Well, it's
a lot of things but in simple terms it's the transformation of an object into
something altogether different and generally the end product is something
decorative. For instance, there is a whole subsection of Altered Art that
concentrates on making Artist Trading Cards, another that is specifically into
making Altered Books and yet another whole genre called Steampunk. I
suggest you do a little web searching on the topic as you'll find some amazing
things and perhaps a bit of inspiration.
If you are anything like me then you have a trove of bits and pieces to work
with already including: beads, bits of cloth, many types of paint, rubber
stamps, shells and all sorts of stuff we magpies like to collect without the
slightest idea what we'll eventually do with it all.....

Anywayyyyyyyyy...... I'll be adding more items and some examples of pieces
I've made here so you can see some of the limitless possibilities. I'll add a
how to article very soon as well.

Postage Stamp Packs
My path into Altered Art really got moving along when I
'inherited' a trove of postage stamps. I have more than I can use in 3
lifetimes so I'm offering you some mixed packs of stamps to get you
started.
Stamps shown are an example; each lot will be different but
still beautiful. I have many stamps from Japan, stamps featuring flowers,
insects and wildlife as well as a wide assortment of others. |
